To say that “This has no place in school” is a symptom of a much larger problem. The awful truth is that functional education has no place in American Public Schools, which reminds me of how the FDA make no effort to regulate supplements unless they actually work. If you cannot make functional use of everything you learn, when you learn it, it is a complete waste of time. Applied Math. Applied Science. Applied History. These are Heresy in the world of Public Education. But the organization is too strong, old, and fortified to accept needed change, like most old and broken systems that poison the masses. The only way to fight these kinds of problems is to build a competing system with a better design. When people discover that your cherry pie is a better recipe than the established one, the old bakery will lose customers, and eventually shut down. This rule applies to every system and every organization, including the US Government.
