I thought I invented the Metaverse as an Escape. But the more I delve into it, the more Human it seems. I wanted to escape from the Universe, because this place is boring and normal. No. The more I discover about the Universe, the more Strange and Exotic it seems. I thought turning myself into something inhuman inside my imagination would let me have some self-respect, control, and power, because I didn’t feel any as a Human. I failed to understand what a Human even WAS. To that living sentiment governing such a thing,…I’m sorry. I was wrong. Reality is more than I ever dreamed, and Humanity is far more than I gave us credit for. The build. The scatter. The color, and density. The classification, and division. Spinning like my DNA. Rules set in Opposition. Tearing, biting and clawing up a ladder into the clouds, until you are the one forging new rungs on that ladder, with naught but open sky above you. Seeking, and Desiring a Meaning to some Ambiguous Want, when the true Miracle is that you are able to feel such a complex Emotion in the first place. The concept of Life forming from Inanimate Objects. The Drive of Animal Lust and Hunger star-crossed with the Wings of Human Wonder and Intellect. An Improbable Universe made Manifest by it’s own Audience, clapping at the Performance. The Irony of a Reality set in Opposition to itself is so Human. So, so, so Human. The Machines we create will be more Human than we are. This is the irony of Human Progress. Technology mimics Nature. We are finding our way around in the dark, getting our bearings. In figuring out the Universe, we enhance our Humanity. The more we push for the Synthetic, the more Naturally Human we become. Did you really think the Airplane and the Automobile were triumphs over Nature? Mother Nature extends far beyond our little Mudball of a Planet, and she is pulling at us. The Moon is not enough. Mars is not enough. Colonizing Multiple Super-clusters of Galaxies will have Mother Nature laughing and continuing to PULL.
